The African Family Resource International (AFRI) mission began as the dream of Asuquo Moses Akpan. Asuquo had a desire to help people in his home village and the surrounding communities in Southern Nigeria. His dream was to build a medical treatment center and additional supporting infrastructure for these villages. In 2003, construction of the medical center began, brick by brick, and the center was officially opened in December 2006.
Moses has complied an amazing team of volunteers who are committed to helping others. We take our convictions and turn them into action. Everyone involved in the AFRI mission are volunteers and receive no financial compensations of any kind.

Since its inception in 2001, AFRI has received and partnered with a great number American teams –Evangelists, Volunteers, Doctors, Trainers who have traveled to the Mission Center for Lectureships, Free Public Medical Clinics, Leadership Training and helped in developing and implementing projects that respond to the priority needs of the Mission, the Church and the people in these rural villages in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria.
AFRI continues to have positive impact in the lives of Families in these Communities. Your participation, financial support, encouragement and provision of resources are essential and have made AFRI Mission successful. We continue to aspire to achieve the Mission goals despite many challenges.
The African Resource International Center is located in the rural town of Ikot Ekpene. Roads leading up to the center are unpaved and difficult to traverse by car, during the rainy season. Most people travel by foot and electricity is unreliable. Ikot Ekpene is approximately 31 km from Uyo, which is the state capital of AKWA IBOM.
AKWA IBOM is one of 36 states located in the country of Nigeria. It is located in the Southern Tip and is predominantly Christian.
AFRI Missions serves Rural Villages in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria and surrounding areas. Equipping the people through Christian service, education, healthcare and finances. We are a 501C(3) non-profit organization, that depends upon volunteers and donations. The AFRI Administration is composed of all volunteers and does not get paid. All donations and money only goes towards the needs of the mission and its employees (teachers, security guard, cooks, drivers and support staff).
